When should you go to a podiatrist?
You should go to a podiatrist if you:
- can’t walk properly or put weight on your foot
- want help to not fall over
- have trouble with your:
- feet
- ankles
- other bones and joints in your limbs on the lower part of your body.
A podiatrist can help you if you have:
- pain
- toenails that have grown under the skin
- calluses – thick, hard layers of skin on your feet
- corns – hard, thick areas of skin that are painful.
What happens when you go to a podiatrist?
When you go to a podiatrist, they will:
- check the skin on your feet and your toenails
- support you with ways to keep your feet clean
- give you special equipment to help you be more comfortable when you walk or stand
- help you to walk and run better
- help you find the right type of shoes.
