What happens when you go to an orthotist or prosthetist?
When you go to an orthotist or prosthetist, they will help you with:
- aids or equipment you need, like a brace
- a hurt limb
- a limb that doesn’t work properly
- prosthetics or orthotics you need.
Prosthetics and orthotics are assistive technology to help you do things your disability stops your body from doing.
For example, if you are missing a leg, you can use a prosthetic to replace your leg.
Assistive technology can:
- make it easier to do things
- keep you safe.
Assistive technology might be:
- an aid or piece of equipment
- a system to use.
