Purpose

In this course you will learn how to be inclusive for the LGBTIQA+ community and look at how to advocate for LGBTIQA+ people with a disability. This is a free online course available to anyone through the DARU website.

Learning

  1. An understanding of the common terms and language used within the LGBTIQA+ communities including how we describe bodies, gender, and orientation.
  2. Improved knowledge of the research and the law related to the lived experiences of LGBTIQA+ people with disabilities.
  3. An increased awareness of how a human rights framework intersects with creating access for LGBTIQA+ people with disabilities and how this awareness can improve access and
    inclusion.
  4. Reflect on current practice in your disability advocacy organisation and identify areas for improvement.
    Become an advocate and an ally for LGBTIQA+ people with disabilities.
