Speech pathologists help you if you have difficulties with communication or swallowing.

When should I see them?

  • You have difficulty with communication, for example with speech, language (understanding and talking) reading, writing, voice, fluency or social communication
  • You have difficulty with swallowing.

What services do they provide?

They can:

  • Work out the nature of the communication problem with you
  • They work out everyday strategies to make your speech or language more effective
  • They provide alternative and augmentative communication systems (AAC)
  • They help you use your voice in the right way
  • They develop your understanding and use of social communication skills to make you more confident in social settings
  • They help with the communication demands of socialising, study and work
  • They assess and manage swallowing difficulties.
