Social workers help you to improve your wellbeing, or to manage any problems you may have in your life.
Social Workers assist individuals, families and communities to access resources and develop skills to enhance their social and personal wellbeing.
When should I see them?
- You or your family need help accessing information or resources
- You need help adjusting to new or challenging situations
- You experience violence or abuse, trauma, mental health difficulties, alcohol or drug addiction
- You have problems with housing.
What services do they provide?
They can:
- Provide counselling to you one-to-one, or in a group (for example, with family members) so you can talk about your feelings. Or provide information
- Provide advocacy support to you, and can connect you to other services that could support you information
- Help you find groups in the community that offer support or specialised services (for example employment, training, material aid or housing).
